AUDITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Auditions for Dracula

Audition Dates: Jun 27, 1-3pm & Jun 28, 4-6pm

Show Dates: Oct 16-18, 23-25

Location: Mikadow Theatre, 1118 Washington St. Manitowoc WI

Summary

Professor Van Helsing and his brave comrades must hunt down and destroy the profoundly evil Count Dracula. But the Count is exceedingly resourceful, employing superhuman strength, psychic powers, and shape-changing to confound and frustrate his antagonists. Culminating in a wild and shocking confrontation between the King of Vampires and those who would rid the world of him, this adaptation is an action-packed, blood-soaked retelling of Bram Stoker’s classic tale of horror.

History

The McNulty adaptation of Dracula premiered at the Actors Theatre of Louisville, Kentucky on September 22, 2007.

This is not the Dracula of old horror films.
Mikadow Theatre’s production of Dracula explores obsession, immortality, madness, and the monster hiding beneath charm and beauty. Actors should be prepared for a gothic thriller built on atmosphere, emotion, and psychological horror.

AUDITIONS:

All people auditioning will be asked to fill out an Audition Information Sheet for the auditions; one may fill this out the night of the auditions or ahead of time (form available HERE).

WHAT TO EXPECT

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.

WHATS REQUIRED

Actors of all experience levels are encouraged to audition.

Casting is open to all genders, ethnicities, and ages.

ROBERT RENFIELD - A patient in Dr. Seward’s asylum. Disturbed, hilarious, tragic, and terrifying. Renfield sees the darkness approaching before anyone else does. A physically and emotionally demanding role requiring vulnerability, intensity, and controlled madness.

COUNT DRACULA - Elegant. Intelligent. Ancient. Dangerous. Dracula is not a monster pretending to be a man. He is a predator who understands exactly how to appear human. Requires confidence, charisma, restraint, and a commanding presence.

THE MONSTER - A featured physical performance role. The horrifying creature beneath Dracula’s human disguise. This actor creates fear through movement, presence, body language, and intensity rather than dialogue. Experience with dance, movement, stage combat, creature work, or physical theatre is a plus.

ABRAHAM VAN HELSING - A brilliant expert in the supernatural. Aging and physically weakened, but mentally unstoppable. Carries the burden of knowing the truth before anyone else is willing to believe it.

DR. THOMAS SEWARD - A young doctor of science and reason whose world is shattered by Dracula’s arrival. Intelligent, passionate, and haunted by the loss of Mina.

LUCY WESTPHAL - Smart, lively, and independent. Lucy is full of warmth and curiosity but finds herself drawn into Dracula’s darkness.

JONATHAN HARKER - A young solicitor deeply in love with Lucy. Brave, emotional, and impulsive, he must face horrors he never believed existed.

MINA GRANT - A haunting presence from beyond the grave. Beautiful, tragic, and forever connected to Dracula’s curse.

MARGARET SULLIVAN - Dr. Seward’s loyal Irish assistant. Practical, strong-willed, and grounded among the chaos unfolding around her.

THE BRIDES - Three vampire women. Beautiful, dangerous, hypnotic, and otherworldly. Movement and presence are key.

NORBERT BRIGGS - An asylum attendant. Rough, intimidating, and part of the harsh world surrounding Renfield.

THE CHILD - Female presenting, ages 7–10. A young innocent caught in Dracula’s shadow.
